Hey, girls!

I got lots of questions about the beauty products that don’t work out well for me. What do I do with them? Before giving them away to my mom or sister, I like to experiment, and this is how I came up with two brilliant ways to upgrade and boost the performance of hair conditioners and masks.

1. How to improve the effect of a hair mask or conditioner? Add some oil

Adding some oil to a hair mask or conditioner is the first thing I do to make the product work better. Most of us don’t have semi-products like keratin or aloe at home but we can make use of oils that probably everyone has within their reach. As far as the amount of the oil goes, this depends on the condition of your hair. I usually use three or four drops. If your hair is damaged and dry, a half spoon seems to work well. Remember it’s better to begin with a smaller amount and gradually go for more to avoid overburdening. When it comes to the method itself, I scoop a portion of the mask and mix it with the oil. Next, I massage it into the hair, leave it in for around twenty minutes, and rinse well using lukewarm water.

I’m aware that putting oil in hair makes you think of greasy strands but I assure you that there’s no need to worry. This small amount of oil will never weigh your hair down or make it more greasy. Instead, a conditioner or mask enriched with pure oil makes hair more shiny, soft, moisturized, and most of all, holds back the frizz. Which oil to use to boost the performance of a mask/conditioner?

These three oils are universal and suit all types of hair. My hair has medium porosity and all three oils give great effects. If you know which oil works best on your hairdo, feel free to add it to a mask or conditioner for better results.

2. How to improve the effect of a hair mask or conditioner? Add some heat

I use the other remedy when I’m not pressed for time. It takes more time but the effects are worth it. You can use it before a big event as it guarantees a good hair day! Here’s how to do it step by step:

  1. Apply a mask/conditioner.
  2. Tie hair up in a bun.
  3. Put on a shower cap.
  4. Put on a towel.
  5. Optionally: blow-dry using cool and warm airflow by turns.
  6. Rinse using lukewarm water after 20-30 minutes.
  7. Enjoy more lovely hair than ever before!

The heat causes hair cuticles to rise so more of the beneficial nutrients can be absorbed. To seal the cuticles back you need to use lukewarm or cool water. The effect of this treatment is insanely shiny, nourished, super-soft, thick hair.

Do you use any tricks to tweak your mask or conditioner? If not, give them a try! You’ll be nicely surprised.
